 8.0 Great place to stay within easy access to rail travel.

☺The location was great in relation to our travel by train, rail station was a 10 minute walk.

The tram service into the old city was very easy and the hoists we're very helpful in suggesting sites to visit.

☹Breakfast was fine but the same each day without variation, which is a shame.

The only negative comment would be that there is no lift to the first floor rooms which may be a problem for some people.

☺Located close to train and bus stations. Hosts seemed eager to please, breakfast is basic, pastries, orange juice, tea/coffee, yogurt, a little cheese and apple stew.

☹Small bathroom even for one person. Very loud/noisy flooring from every room and passage upstairs, adjacent neighbours conversation could be easily heard. The same comments were shared by other guests at breakfast. No assistance with luggage was provided resulting in a minor fall.

  Great Inn and Great Owners
This is a wonderful inn to stay, it close to everything and a few minute walk from the main train station. Very relaxed atmosphere and extremely clean. The owner Bridget and Frank are just fantastic. Frank actually went above and beyond by taking his bike to go to train station to go get a taxi for us as our cab did not show up. The breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend.

  Perfect accommodation close to the station
Perfect location within walking distance of train and bus station. Lovely room with own bathroom and toilet in a beautiful old French townhouse. Breakfast with the opportunity to share train experiences with other guests at the long table. Really sweet and cozy, as they share good suggestions for tours and experiences in wonderful Bordeaux, only a good two hours from Paris. We hope there is a vacant room for our next visit to Bordeaux.

  Excellent home base in Bordeaux, very convenient to the train station
We had a great experience at La Halte Montaigne. We chose it based upon location and good reviews and we were not disappointed. Brigitte and Franck were delightful hosts and the facilities were lovely. We would highly recommend. The location is just five minute walk from the train station. We returned our rental car one afternoon, had that evening and the next day in Bordeaux, then had to be back at the station by 8:30 the next day after that, all made simple by this location. While perfect for our needs, I should note that the location is more practical than charming. It is about 2 km from the parts of town, so there are supermarkets, laundromats, and the basic amenities but not a lot of restaurants. We enjoyed walking the 25 minutes or so to the central/tour guide areas in the day and evening. There is also the excellent tram three blocks away at the train station. While plain from the outside, the interiors were lovely. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the shared spaces were perfect. Brigitte and Franck could not have been more helpful and accommodating; Brigitte is from Bordeaux and had excellent suggestions on places to visit in our limited time in the city. Highly recommend and would stay again!

  A real break during a stay in the heart of Bordeaux
La Halte Montaigne is a real a very nice place, very well located. Isabelle is really a caring host. It is a place that offers you a real break in the middle of Bordeaux. Bedding top. Bordeaux house very well decorated. The breakfast "A la française" is very hearty. I recommend.

  A very pleasant and welcoming B&B.
We stayed with Isabelle seven years ago, and had good memories, so we booked with her again on a rail holiday to France and Spain. The first plus is that La Halte Montaigne is less ten ten minutes' walk from both the railway station and adjacent tram stop, giving easy access to the town centre, which otherwise is a 30-40 minute walk away. It's an old-style house with wood and marble floors, and immacualately clean with comfortable bedding. Breakfast is simple but good quality, with local bread, cheeses, honey and jam, plus croissants, fruit and yoghurt, and a big jug of nice coffee. Isabelle is a delightful host, always happy to chat in excellent English, and ready with good recommendations - the Maison du Vin (opposite the Tourist Office and not to be confused with the Cité du Vin) was an elegent and inexpensive place to try the products of Bordeaux, and Le Boullin near the station was also good value.   The enchanted break on the road to the holidays
A wonderful stop in a characterful mansion with a warm Welcoming. For three years we have been taking this enchanted break in Bordeaux. Special mention for breakfast. We recommend this address with your eyes closed.
